How to Decorate for a Harvest Party
A harvest party offers one last chance for outdoor entertaining, before the weather turns too cold. Take a cue from Mother Nature and decorate for your harvest party with pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and other autumn fruits and flowers. Turn your backyard into a candlelit dining area with old fashioned lanterns and decorative pillar candles. Does this Spark an idea?

Decorate the Buffet Table

Cover the buffet table with a country-style blue or red gingham checked cloth.

Use straw baskets or old fashioned wire baskets, lined with gingham checked napkins to hold breads and chips.

Hollow out several gourds and pumpkins of various shapes and sizes and place a pillar candle inside.

Place faux (or real) autumn leaves and red berries around the base of serving dishes for an even more "harvest" look.
Decorate the Guest Table and Seating

Dress a long trestle table with checked tablecloths to match the buffet.

Place more gourd and pumpkin candle holders at intervals along the table.

Write each guest's name on a small piece of parchment paper, then hot glue the paper to a miniature pumpkin, for a harvest-themed name card holder.

Stack hay bales about the table instead of using chairs or benches. Cover the bales with a checked cloth or other autumn colored fabric

Hang tin lanterns or other old fashioned lanterns around the party perimeter.

Hang wreaths of autumn flowers and foliage on the doors leading into the house or barn.
