    Things You'll Need

    • Rubber or contact cement
    • Cornstarch or baby powder
    • Hand or body lotion
    • Friend (to help listen for location of squeak!)

Put that guilty pair of shoes on. Have a friend lay on the floor. Put pressure on different areas as you walk, see if your friend can determine where the squeak is coming from.

      • 2

Take the shoes off and lift the inner sole out. Sprinkle with baby powder or cornstarch. Put the sole back in the shoe.

      • 3

Check to make sure the heel is in place. It may be loose from wear or was never attached properly. Squeeze a dab of rubber or contact cement in any cracks. Apply pressure for about 5 to 10 minutes for glue to set.

Apply hand or body lotion to bare feet. Slip shoes on and walk around for about 10 to 15 minutes. This will allow the lotion to work into the leather well.

    Tips & Warnings

    • It is possible that you have just purchased a defective pair of shoes that no remedy will cure. If these remedies don't work, take them back to the store.
