The shoestring bow, also known as a cross-loop bow, is the same one made to tie shoes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Place the object you want to tie the bow to in the center of a length of ribbon.
Step2
Bring the two ends up to the top and tie a snug, simple overhand knot.
Step3
Form a loop of one end of the ribbon and hold it in your right hand.
Step4
Repeat with the other end and hold it in your left hand.
Step5
Tie another simple knot using the loops.
Step6
Try this alternate method: Form a loop with one end of the ribbon.
Step7
Wrap the other end around the first loop and, creating a second loop, pull the ribbon through the center of the knot.
Step8
Make sure the loops are the same size.
Step9
Cut the tails to matching lengths.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your scissors are sharp. Dull scissors will leave frayed edges.
  • Make this bow fancy-looking by forming several loops on each side before tying the final knot.

on 11/22/2005 When tying a bow, remember not to go so fast. If you do, the bow might not turn out so well.
