Make a slew of acorn people for a whimsical arrangement or help a child create some kooky characters to play with.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Collect acorns. Select acorns that have the "hat" still attached to the nutshell.

  2. Step 2

Avoid any acorns that have cracks or bad spots.

  3. Step 3

Check to see whether the hat is securely attached to the shell. If it isn't or if you want to be sure it stays on, remove it and attach it with glue.

  4. Step 4

Use fine-tipped permanent markers to draw facial features on the nutshell portion of the acorn.

  5. Step 5

Create different faces for different acorns. Let the natural shape of the shell direct how you decorate them.

  6. Step 6

Add mustaches, moles, ears, makeup and hair peeking out from under the hat.

  7. Step 7

Create different colored hair, lips, cheeks and so on with different colored markers. Nail polish works well for coloring the hat and shell when markers won't show up.

  8. Step 8

Make a holder for your acorn using a 1-inch-wide and 2- or 3-inch-long strip of paper. Fasten the ends of the paper with glue to make a ring shape. Be sure the ring is just large ehough for the acorn to rest on its top.

  9. Step 9

Decorate the holders to resemble clothing.

  10. Step 10

Attach little paper arms and feet to the holders to make the acorns even more lifelike.
