-
Step 1
Use a clean glass jar with a lid.
-
Step 2
Choose a clean object to put inside the globe, or make your own. Plastic, aluminum or baked polymer clay are ideal for wet environments.
-
Step 3
Hot-glue the object to the inside of the lid.
-
Step 4
Boil two to three eggs and peel the shells off.
-
Step 5
Use tweezers to remove the skin that sticks to the insides of the shells. That skin will float in your globe if you don't remove it.
-
Step 6
Crush the shells to form snow and put it in the jar.
-
Step 7
Fill the jar with mineral oil. Allow room for the object, which will displace some of the oil.
-
Step 8
Squeeze a strip of silicone sealer around the threads of the lid.
-
Step 9
Screw the lid on tight. You may want to paint it.

on 7/6/2007 I just tried making a snow globe using mineral oil and the egg shell stuck to the sides of the glass. I'm going to try it again with distilled water and glycerin. I'm just wondering if using water will eventually cause algae to form inside the glass?
