How to Add a Horizontal Line to a Web Page With Dreamweaver

By eHow Internet Editor

Rate: (2 Ratings)

Use a horizontal line to divide text or break up certain areas on a Web page. Typographical lines take up less space on a page than graphical lines and are often easier to see. This tutorial refers to Dreamweaver 3.0.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start the Dreamweaver program and open the page to be edited.
Step2
Position the cursor at the point where the horizontal line will be inserted.
Step3
Open the Insert menu and select Horizontal Rule. A horizontal line will appear on the page.
Step4
Double-click on the line to bring up the Properties box.
Step5
Type the width and height of the line in pixels, or increase the line's size as a percentage of the page.
Step6
Choose the proper alignment.
Step7
Uncheck the Shading box if you want a solid line.
Step8
Save the page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use horizontal lines sparingly in your site. Too many lines can add a gridlike look to your site. If you find yourself using lines often, you may need to break the page in two or consider using tables.
