How to Play Tag

Children take turns being "it" and trying to catch each other.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Running Shoes
  • Antibacterial Soaps
  • Sunscreen
  • Running/sports Drinks
  1. Step 1

    Play this game with at least three players aged 4 and up.

  2. Step 2

    Designate a specific area where the game is to be played. Make sure there are clear boundaries. The smaller the area, the easier the game will be.

  3. Step 3

    Announce that you are "it."

  4. Step 4

    Have the players stand in a circle a short distance away from you.

  5. Step 5

    Yell "Go!" to begin the game.

  6. Step 6

    Run after the other players and attempt to "tag" (touch) one of them. Yell, "Tag, you're it," when you tag someone, who immediately becomes "it."

  7. Step 7

    Run away as the new "it" tries to chase and tag you or one of the other players.

  8. Step 8

    Play the game until everyone has been "it" or you're tired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Explain to the players that "it" should only touch the players, not tackle them.

on 11/22/2005 Yell "No Tag Backs" once you have tagged someone to prevent them from being able to tag you right after you tag them.

on 11/22/2005 A variation we used to play: When you're tagged and become "it," you have to put and keep one hand on the spot where you were tagged while chasing and trying to tag the others. So you try to tag others in an inconvenient spot - back, ankle, wrist ...
