How to Replace the Glass on a KitchenAid Superba KERC507HWH2

The Kitchenaid Superba KERC507HWH2 is a ceramic-glass-top range designed for residential use. The burners are beneath the sheet of glass on the top of the range. The glass cooktop can become discolored or cracked from exposure to adverse conditions such as heavy weight or pressure. You can remove the ceramic glass of the cooktop and replace it with a new part to restore your Kitchenaid oven to its original condition.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

  • Open the oven door. Remove the two screws under the front of the top panel. Close the oven door.

  • Pull the glass oven top toward the front of the range. Loosen the screw holding the ground wire to its connector at the rear of the oven top. Unhook the ground wire.

  • Loosen the screw holding the strain relief harness at the rear of the oven top. The strain relief harness consists of a single screw and a small strip of metal holding the electrical wires. Unhook the strain relief harness.

  • Lift the cooktop off the oven.

  • Remove the screws in the rear corners of the cooktop. Pull the outer frame off the cooktop.

  • Lift the glass off. Position the new glass top in its place. Replace the outer frame. Install the screws in the back corners of the cooktop.

  • Position the cook top on the Kitchenaid KERC507HWH2. Connect the ground wire and strain relief to the back of the oven top. Tighten the screws that hold them in place.

  • Slide the glass cooktop toward the back of the range.

  • Open the door. Replace the two screws under the front of the top panel.
