How to Connect the High Input Lines on My Automotive SPX Subwoofer

SPX is a line of car audio products from Sondpex Audio, a brand sold in the Pep Boys automotive parts chain. Sondpex manufactures affordable car audio systems and components. Its subwoofers are inexpensive, and wire similarly to most other brands. High-level connections use speaker wire, the ideal connection type for SPX or any subwoofer.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a length of speaker wire long enough to reach from the amplifier's installed location to the intended mounting spot for the SPX subwoofer.

    • 2

Strip 1/2 inch of outer insulation from both ends of the speaker wire. Loosen the speaker wire connector screws on the amp. For bridgeable stereo amps, loosen the left positive and right negative screws. For mono amplifiers, simply loosen the left and right speaker output screws.

    • 3

Insert the side of the wire market with printing or a red stripe into the positive ("+") speaker wire terminal. Repeat for the other speaker wire lead, designated as the negative ("-") wire. Tighten the screw terminals back down to secure.

    • 4

Flip the SPX subwoofer magnet-side up. Locate the two speaker wire push terminals on the back, flanking the speaker's magnet.

    • 5

Push the positive speaker wire terminal down, exposing the hole inside the binding post. SPX designates this terminal with a red sticker on the end of the post. Insert the positive wire leading from the amp, then release. Repeat for the negative terminal and wire.

Tips & Warnings
