Heel Tips for Ladies' Shoes
The tips on high-heeled shoes are often made of plastic and are very small, so they are usually the first repair needed on a well-used shoe or boot. There's no need to take them to a cobbler, as this is an inexpensive repair that can be done at home with little to no mess and just a bit of elbow grease. If you've got pliers and a hammer, then you're ready to make those shoes like new again.

- Nail file

1
Turn the shoe over, and grab the broken or worn out heel tip with pliers.
-
2
Yank the tip from the heel of the shoe. Plastic tips are often easier to extract than metal ones, but both will require some strength. If the tip decides to be stubborn, then twist it off in a slow, circular motion while pulling until it comes off the heel. Most retail shoes use plastic tips that come off without much hassle.

3
Hammer the new tip to the end of the heel. This is just like driving a nail into a piece of wood. The pin of the replacement tip should be firmly inserted into the end of the heel.
-
4
Knock the heel of the shoe against a hard surface to finish driving the pin into the heel. Check that the tip is firmly secured into place.
-
5
File the replacement tip down if it's too wide or doesn't fit the shape of the heel exactly. This will not damage the shoe or the new heel tip.
