How to Remove a KitchenAid Dishwasher Vent

Save

The vent connected to the door of a KitchenAid dishwasher is beneficial for removing steam that is created during a cleaning cycle. If you note that too little or too much steam is coming from the vent, you should manually remove the part to determine whether it is broken. If the dishwasher vent is broken, you can purchase a new one from the KitchenAid manufacturer or an online retailer.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Turn off the electrical power to your KitchenAid dishwasher from your kitchen circuit breaker.

  • Loosen the two hex head screws from the bottom toe panel using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Remove the two screws at the bottom of the outer door panel, and open the dishwasher door slightly.

  • Remove the two screws from the top of the front panel. Lift and remove the entire outer panel from the dishwasher door.

  • Insert a flathead screwdriver into one of the slots in the dishwasher vent on the doors.

  • Turn the vent counterclockwise one-quarter turn, and the vent will become dislodged.

  • Lift and remove the entire vent. Inspect the vent for any damage, and replace the part, if necessary.
