Perhaps you'd like to make your wedding party personalized gifts but add a homemade touch to them, of you want to turn your basic wine glasses into bursts of color or seasonal table decor. You can always try your hand at a freehand design, but applying the paint using a stencil gives eye-catching results even if you're not an artist.

Things You'll Need:

  • Clean Dish Towels And Rags
  • Oven
  • Scissors
  • Small Containers
  • Wine Glasses
  • Brushes
  • Glass Paint
  • Tape Or Adhesive Paper
  • Dish Soap
  • Stencil Or Stencil Materials

Wash and dry the wine glasses thoroughly, getting rid of smudges.

Create your own stencil if you're not using a pre-made version. Etch the outline of your desired design on a piece of card stock. Cut out the areas you want color to show through on your wine glass. Trim any jagged edges for a smooth line.

Line up where you want the stencil to sit on the wine glass. Tape or adhere the stencil flat on the surface with masking tape or by peeling the back off a stencil on adhesive material.

Dip a small brush into your chosen color of glass paint. Paint directly on the stencil and wine glass, filling in the exposed glass completely or as you'd like the design to show through. Let the paint dry completely.

Apply a second coat of paint, if desired, or paint other areas of the stencils in other colors. Let the paint dry completely overnight.

Remove the stencil and tape from the wine glass. Bake the wine glass to set the paint per paint label instructions, being careful with thinner glass which is more susceptible to shattering or cracking. Let the glasses cool completely.

Wash the glasses per paint label instructions, removing any residue left from the tape.
