How to Install Shipping Bolts on Duet Washers
Whirlpool Duet washing machines are shipped from the Whirlpool factory with shipping bolts installed. The shipping bolts are designed to prevent the wash tub from moving during transit. Before the washer is used, the installer must remove these bolts to prevent damage to the washer. Pull the washer away from the wall so that the rear of the appliance is accessible.

Remove the four plastic rear panel cabinet plugs on the rear of the washer. To remove, lift the side of each plug, and then slide it toward the outside of the washer.

Insert one of the short shipping bolts into one of the top two holes, and then use a 13-millimeter socket wrench to tighten it. Install the other short shipping bolt into the other top hole in the same manner.

Insert one of the long shipping bolts into one of the two holes on the bottom of the rear panel. Use the socket wrench to tighten the bolt, and then repeat for the other long bolt.
