How to Create a Twinkle in Photoshop

A twinkle is the effect that happens when light reflects off a shiny surface, such as metal, wet grass or polished wood, or in the artistic sense, such as a twinkling star or twinkle in the eye. You can add a twinkle to anything in Photoshop using one of its included star brushes, which creates a realistic gleam and is available by default.

  • Open the image to which you want to add the twinkle by pressing “Ctrl” and “O,” then selecting the image from the dialog box that appears.

  • Click the “Brush” tool on the toolbar. Click the “Size” option on the top of the screen directly beneath the main menu. Click the arrow button on the size menu that appears, then choose “Assorted Brushes” from the pop-out menu that opens.

  • Scroll through the “Assorted Brushes” list that loaded. Select the “Star 50“ brush.

  • Click the “Color Palette” on the toolbar. Select the color you want for the twinkle.

  • Click on the image to add the twinkle. Add as many twinkles as you’d like.
