How to Replace a Plastic Water Hose in a Frigidaire Refrigerator

The plastic water hose in a Frigidiare refrigerator is known as the fill tube. It connects to the upper back wall inside the freezer, extending on the other end into the fill cup for the ice maker. When the sensor unit detects it's time to make ice, a premeasured volume of water flows through the plastic tube into the fill cup. if the plastic tube cracks or splits due to freezing, the part must be replaced for the ice maker to work properly. Instructions

    • 1

      Unplug the Frigidiare power cord.

      Open the freezer door to rearrange frozen food, leaving a work space around the ice maker.

      Take out the screws in the support bracket holding the ice maker to the left wall of the freezer.

      Push upward on the ice maker from the bottom to disengage the unit from the support bracket. Pull the ice maker forward 2 inches.

      Disconnect the plug on the end of the unit's wiring harness from the power socket on the freezer wall. You can now remove the ice maker from the freezer.

      Pull off the old plastic tube from the nozzle near the top of the freezer on the back wall.

      Push the new hose onto the nozzle as far as it will go.

      Reconnect the ice maker's power plug to the socket in the freezer and lower the unit onto the support brackets. Take care not to crimp or trap the plastic hose behind and above the ice maker.

      Secure the ice maker with the screws in the support bracket.

      Lower the plastic tube into the ice maker fill cup. The tube dangles into the cup far enough that it cannot pop out.

      Plug in the Frigidaire power cord.
