Beaded jewelry can be made using glass, metal, plastic or stone beads. Crystal gems and pearls can also be used to make a necklace or to accent other types of beads. Multiple layers of beads can be worn to make the same outfit look like a new one each time you wear it. A double stranded necklace made with a variety of colors can complement multiple outfits.
Things You'll Need
- Jewelry wire
- Crimp beads
- Bulldog clip
- Wire cutters
Measure two pieces of jewelry wire to the desired lengths making one approximately 1/2 inch longer than the other. Secure one end of each wire with a bulldog clip to prevent the beads from falling off while making the necklace.
Place beads on the wire in a pattern of your choice. A sample pattern is using two of one bead, three of another, four of a third and repeat the pattern on the jewelry wire. Change up the pattern for the second necklace wire.
Take one end of the two strands and run it through the center of a crimp bead. Run the wires through the loop on one-half of the clasp and run it back through the crimp bead. Press the crimp bead flat using pliers to secure wire.
Repeat the previous step for the other end of the jewelry wire. Pull wire tight and check to make sure there are no unwanted spaces between beads and clasps before closing crimp bead. Trim any excess wire.
