How to Make Spa Party Slippers for a Little Girl

Spa parties are much fun for little girls’ sleepover parties and other special gatherings. If your daughter is preparing for a birthday, celebrate her special day with a spa party in which she and her closest gal pals are pampered and given the royal treatment. Make special spa slippers for the honoree or to distribute as party favors.

Things You'll Need

  • Child-size foam flip flops (1/2 inch foam or less)
  • Scissors
  • Terry cloth towels
  • Fabric marker
  • Needle and thread
  • Cotton batting or felt
  • Hot glue gun
  • Ribbons
  • Fabric flowers
  • Fabric paint
  • Remove the straps from a pair of foam flip flops. Use scissors to cut off the straps.

  • Use a washable marker to trace the sole of each flip flop on terry cloth towel. Use a color of towel such a pink or purple. Remove the flip flops from the towel and re-draw the patterns approximately 1/2 inch wider than the original.

  • Cut the bigger patterns out of the fabric. Place each pattern on remaining towel material. Trace and cut out so that you have two pieces for each foot.

  • Sandwich each flip flop between the two corresponding fabric pieces. Pin along the edges to hold in place. Stitch the edges, removing pins as you sew. Stitch as closely to the edges of fabric as possible to minimize seam. After stitching, trim excess seam with scissors, taking care not to cut stitches.

  • Make pieces to go over the toes. Trace the top curve of each slipper (left and right foot) twice on the towel. At point where the ball of the foot (the joint of the big toe and the foot) is located, draw a curved line to the other side of the foot. The line should curve upward. Do this for all four patterns and cut patterns.

  • Cut two pieces of cotton batting or felt to insert between towel pattern pieces. Cut batting slightly smaller than the patterns of the slipper tops. Sandwich batting between towel pieces, pin the edges and stitch together.

  • Place each piece at the top of the slipper feet, aligning curves and edges. Sew the toe coverings onto the slippers.

  • Decorate or embellish the slippers to make them more girly. Tie two bows out of ribbon. Hot glue a bow on top of each slipper over the toes. Alternatively, hot glue a fabric flower to each slipper. Use fabric paint to write the girl’s name or initials on the slipper.
