How to Fix an RCA TV That Keeps Turning Off Every Second

It will be understandably difficult for you to enjoy watching a show if your RCA TV keeps turning itself off. It can do this automatically based on how the certain settings are adjusted. The clock, sleep timer and other time-based settings contribute to controlling how your TV behaves. In most cases, you will easily be able to program your TV so that it turns off when only you decide to press the power button.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control.

    • 2

Press the down arrow button and highlight "Setup." Press the "OK" button.

    • 3

Press the up or down arrow button, and highlight "Time." Use the number buttons on the remote control and enter the correct time. Press the "OK" button to select "AM" or "PM."

    • 4

Press the down arrow button and highlight "Time Zone." Use the arrow button and select "Atlantic," "Alaska," ""Central," "Eastern," "Hawaii," "Mountain," Newfoundland," "Pacific" or "Samoa."

    • 5

Press the down arrow button and highlight "Daylight Saving." Select "On" to show Daylight Saving information, or "Off" to ignore it.

    • 6

Press the up or down arrow button and select "Sleep Timer." Use the left or right arrow button and set the minutes to "0" or "Off," whichever option applies to your RCA TV model.

Tips & Warnings

  • Based on your RCA model and remote control device, you may need to press the "OK" button to select menu items instead of the arrow buttons. Please refer to your TV owners guide on the precise instructions on how to set the clock and deactivate the sleep timer setting for your particular model RCA TV.
  • The Time menu has Automatically Acquire Time option so your TV can automatically acquire the time from digital channels. If you turn on this setting, the time may be not reflect the correct time because it will be based on the specific time zone of the digital channel. Because of this, set that function "Off."
