Things You'll Need:
- Power Window Kits
-
Step 1
Look in the yellow pages under "Dealer Expediter" to get the name of shops that sell and install power window kits.
-
Step 2
Ask your car dealer whom they use to install power windows.
-
Step 3
Come up with about three to four stores you can visit.
-
Step 1
Look around the shop. Does it look neat and organized?
-
Step 2
Ask whether the installer is certified by the Mobile Electronics Certification Program. This is a certification program that includes tests that ascertain the skill level of installers.
-
Step 3
Ask who are their suppliers. Get the Web site address of the distributor or manufacturer so that you can check them out.
-
Step 4
Watch an installation, if possible. Does the installer appear to know what he or she is doing and is careful with parts such as door panels?
-
Step 5
Ask whether the installer receives specific instructions from the manufacturer for each vehicle. The power window kits may be universal, but the placement of the switches may have to be customized. Hopefully, the shop carries products from a manufacturer who can offer suggestions on where and how the switches should be mounted in your particular car model.
-
Step 6
Ask about product and labor warranties.
-
Step 7
Select the shop with which you feel most comfortable.
