How to Make a Faux Chipboard
Paper chipboard is made from layers of stacked cardboard. True chipboard, is actually made from wood. Both forms of chipboard are often used in scrapbooking and other craft activities. Chipboard can cost quite a bit when purchased at scrapbooking supply or craft stores and not all shapes or sizes of chipboard are available at all times. If you cannot find the chipboard that you need at a store, or if you don't want to pay the high cost for chipboard, you can make your own faux chipboard from stacked cardstock paper and a die cutting machine.

1
Cut a piece of cardstock paper to fit on the die cut board. Place the paper on the board. Stack the die cut shape on top of the paper and place the second cutting board on top of the die cut shape.
-
2
Roll the shape through the die cutting machine to cut the paper. Repeat this process about eight times to make eight different copies of the same shape or image.

3
Cover one of the shapes with glue. Use a paintbrush to spread the glue evenly across the entire piece of paper. Stack a matching shape on top of the first. Line up all of the edges so that the edges match precisely.
-
4
Repeat the process for the other six pieces of paper. Apply glue, then stack a fresh piece of paper on top. Do not apply glue to the top piece of paper.
-
5
Allow the glue to dry for at least 2 hours. When the glue sets, the faux chipboard is ready to use. Use a sharp utility knife to cut off any edges of the paper that do not align completely.
