Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle

  • 1 cup white vinegar

  • Essential oil

  • Cloth

Some potpourri contains added fragrance chemicals that can be toxic to children and pets.

Made of dried flowers, herbs and spices, potpourri fills your home with a pleasant scent. Unfortunately, not all potpourris smell as good as they claim and some can quickly turn your once fresh home into a stinky mess. Commercial odor removers contain a high amount of chemicals and many merely mask the funky potpourri odor instead of getting rid of it. Fortunately, you can create your own air freshener and odor eliminator using natural and inexpensive items that will remove the potpourri aroma instead of covering it up.
