How to Make a Crown for a Bible Class
Crowns occur in many places in the Bible, both as literal kings' crowns and as symbolic images of heavenly rewards or Jesus' authority. Letting children make their own crown crafts in a Bible class gives them a way to enjoy and understand the value of crowns and the pleasure of receiving them. This craft is simple enough for elementary school students, though middle schoolers might enjoy it as well. Older children can cover their crowns in foil for extra shine before decorating them with jewels.
Things You'll Need
- Yellow or metallic card stock
- Scissors
- Tape or staples
- Stick-on craft jewels
Instructions

1
Cut card stock into long strips that are 1 1/2 times as wide as the desired crown height, including the crown's points. For example, if you want to make crowns that are 4 inches high, cut strips 6 inches wide.
-
2
Cut a zig-zag line across the middle of each strip of card stock to make two pointed crown segments.
-
-
3
Wrap crown segments around each child's head to determine how many segments you will need to make her crown. Tape together the appropriate number of segments end to end.
-
4
Decorate each crown with stick-on jewels. If desired, older children can write a Bible verse about crowns, such as James 1:12, on their creations.

Tips & Warnings
For a much simpler version of this craft, you can use gold-colored bulletin board borders instead of card stock.
