Vinegar

  • Vinegar is a terrific home product for use in a variety of things aside from food, and removing wallpaper is one of those off-task uses. Simply mix an equal amount of vinegar and hot water and combine. Application is best accomplished with a painter roller until the wallpaper is dampened. Unless the wallpaper glue or paste is particularly stubborn, the wallpaper will usually peel off in full sheets.

Fabric Softener

  • Fabric softener is one of the most utilized home products for removing wallpaper. Poke small holes into the wallpaper to make sure the mixture soaks through to the glue. Then mix equal parts fabric softener and water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray onto the wallpaper and allow to soak for 15 minutes, and then use a plastic scraper to scrape away the wallpaper.

Blow Dryer

  • A simple blow dryer used to dry wet hair after a shower can be an effective tool for removing wallpaper. Set the blow dryer on the hottest setting possible and hold it close to the wallpaper. The purpose here is to melt or loosen the glue beneath the wallpaper. For this reason, a blow dryer is effective both on wallpaper and on the remnants of glue or paste that stubbornly cling to the wall after you have used other methods to remove the paper.

Water

  • In many cases you cannot find a better product at home or in a store to removal wallpaper than plain old water. Hot water into which a sponge has been dipped and soaked that is then rubbed onto the wallpaper can serve to loosen up the wallpaper for easy removal in many cases. Even before adding vinegar or fabric softener, you may want to try this old-school method for wallpaper removal first.
