How Many Amps Does a Hyundai Sonata Stereo Have?

The mid-sized Hyundai Sonata is manufactured by South Korean automaker Hyundai Motors. This sedan is available in four versions -- GLS, SE, Limited Edition and a hybrid model. The company offers four audio systems with varying wattage in its Sonata line.

  • Amplifiers are part of device sound systems. Amplifiers work to increase an audio or optical signal without causing distortion. The boosted sound produced is measured in wattage. A small amplifier supplies limited wattage. A home or car stereo amplifier may provide hundreds of watts. The speaker systems found in music and sporting arenas produce thousands of watts.

Sonata Options

  • The six speaker system is standard on the GLS, SE and Hybrid models and has an 104 watt capacity. It has an AM/FM satellite radio with a single disk CD changer.

GLS and SE owners have the option of an AM/FM satellite radio with a CD/MP3 audio system with seven speakers and an external amp that supplies 360 W. They offer the same system with a six-disc CD changer that produces 360 W.

Sonata Limited Edition or hybrid owners may select an AM/FM satellite radio with CD/MP3 audio system with nine speakers and a six-disc CD changer. This system produces 400 W.

  • Use common sense when operating these systems, which can provide hundred of watts of sound. Use judiciously to minimize safety concerns and noise pollution.
