What Kind of Toilets Do You Put in a Basement?
Bathrooms installed in home basements often suffer from flushing problems. The problem can be rectified by redesigning the plumbing system so it flushes upward to access the home's drainage system. Does this Spark an idea?

Options
-
To make a basement toilet properly function, one of three options is available. Each has advantages and drawbacks.
Freestanding Units
-
The easiest way to make the toilet flush up instead of down is to install a freestanding sewage ejection unit. While the installation is simple, all the fixtures must be placed above the unit. Arranging the commode, shower and sink atop the ejection system can be challenging.

Electric Pumping Machine
-
This handy appliance is small and unobtrusive, so no bathroom space is compromised. The mechanism simply redirects all the bathroom water upward with an electrical motor so it can be disposed of through the home's main plumbing system.
Subterranean Systems
-
The most costly solution is to install a sewage injection unit underneath the foundation of the house. The process is difficult and time consuming but is the most reliable and durable solution as it creates a separate but fully functional system that performs as well as the home's main sewage system.
