OnStar is an in-vehicle safety and security system on select cars that can protect the owner in a variety of ways, including emergency crash assistance, hands-free calling and theft assistance. OnStar capabilities can only be factory installed and cannot be installed by an owner, dealer or retailer. OnStar includes GPS tracking when a vehicle is stolen, which can be activated through OnStar customer service online or through the telephone.

Notify Police

Immediately contact the local police department when you find your vehicle has been stolen. Advise the officer that you will be using OnStar to help in tracking the location of the vehicle.

Contact OnStar

Contact an Onstar customer services representative by visiting the OnStar website, proceeding to the "Contact Us" Web page and selecting virtual chat. Enter your contact information, including first name, last name, phone number and email address.

Relay information

Type the situation to the customer service representative and include your account and vehicle information, as well as information regarding the officer assigned to your case. OnStar will work with the officer in locating your vehicle in the safest way possible.
