  1. Gallons

    • A half keg of beer is known as a "pony" in some circles. It typically holds 7.75 gallons of liquid and weighs around 87 pounds.

    Ounces

    • A half keg contains 992 ounces of beer. That's around 82.5 individual 12-ounce servings.

    Full keg

    • Brewers supply their beer to bars and restaurants in full kegs. A full keg is equal to half a barrel. A full barrel can hold more than 30 gallons of liquid and is considered cumbersome for wholesale distribution.
