What Is Indoor Tanning Lotion With Bronzer?

Sunless tanners and bronzers are indoor tanning lotion products that produce an artificial tanned appearance. These products can be used alone for a temporary effect or combined with an indoor tanning bed to deepen and darken an existing tan.

Ingredients

Bronzers are formulated with DHA, an FDA authorized color additive that penetrates amino acids on the surface of the skin to create a darkened reaction.

Function

Although bronzers react differently with every skin type, most tanning accelerators with bronzer produce mild results within four hours and maximum results within 12 hours.

Application

Application of bronzers and indoor tanning lotion should be completed before an indoor tanning session. Apply the lotion equally to all parts of the body in a circular motion. Carefully watch areas that easily stain, such as palms, elbows and knees. Some bronzers may stain clothing as well.

Benefits

When used alone, sunless tanning bronzers eliminate the risk of burns from bulb exposure. When used in indoor tanning beds, tanning accelerators with bronzers accelerate and deepen the tan.

Warning

The Food and Drug Administration warns tanners that bronzers may not provide protection from external rays from the sun. Only bronzers with SPF (sun protection factor) may provide some protection from burning rays.
