Vinyl flooring, also called polyvinyl or PVC flooring, is affordable, widely available and easy to maintain.
PVC tiles have been a popular flooring material in America for over 40 years.
PVC can cost less than other flooring options, or as much as a hardwood floor. PVC tiles are available for below $1 per square foot to about $5.
While lower quality PVC may last less than 10 years, higher quality PVC may have warranties of up to 30 years.
Choose either PVC sheets or tiles; peel-and-stick tiles are very easy to install and are popular with fixer-uppers. Since each tile is backed with adhesive, they can be installed by simply pressing them onto the floor.
Clean with a broom, dust mop or vacuum cleaner (without a beater bar, which may cause damage) and occasionally mop. Use manufacturer-recommended cleaning products, a mixture of one tablespoon liquid dish soap to a quart of water, or one tablespoon clear ammonia to a quart of lukewarm water.
