Breakfast Bar Height
A kitchen breakfast bar should be at a comfortable level for sitting and eating. According to FineHomeBuilding.com, the best height for a dining counter is 42 inches--slightly higher than the typical 36-inch height of the kitchen work counter. The counter should be tall enough to accommodate bar stools.
If you have very tall or short bar stools, the counter height should be determined based upon the stools you wish to use. If you choose stools that are taller than average, then build your breakfast bar a little higher, and vice versa. However, keep the standard size in mind because that's what is comfortable for most people.
A breakfast bar should be at a height of about 42 inches, but it can be adjusted to fit your personal preference and the height of your bar stools.
