Honeywell Humidifier Operating Instructions

Honeywell produces several models of humidifiers for home use. Humidifiers increase the amount of humidity in the room by heating up water in a tank and dispersing it into the air. Users can set the amount of humidity they want in the room using the built in humidistat and start operating the machine out of the box.

  • Honeywell humidifiers require a short setup process before operation. To setup the humidifier, remove the unit from the packaging and place it on a flat, water resistant surface. Lift the water tank out of the base and flip it over. Unscrew the fill cap and fill the tank with cool water. Do not fill the tank past the maximum fill line as water may spill out of the unit. Replace the fill cap once the tank is filled. Turn the water tank right side up and put it back on the base of the humidifier. Once in place, water will run into the tray. If you need to move the humidifier, be sure to pull the water tank out of the unit first.

Operating the Humidifier

  • Your Honeywell humidifier is ready for use once water is placed in the tank. Plug the power cord into a working power outlet. Turn the power know to "High" or "Low," depending on your desired humidity level. When set to "High," the room will humidify quickly. The "Low" setting will take a longer amount of time to humidify the room. Press the "Start" lever near the bottom of the machine to start the humidifier. After 5-10 minutes, the humidifier will begin producing moisture.

Medicine Cup

  • Several companies manufacture a vaporizing medicine that can be added tot he Honeywell humidifiers. The vaporizing medicine is used to clear congestion caused by colds or other illnesses. The humidifiers have a medicine cup attached to the top of the unit. To add the vaporizing medicine, turn off the humidifier if it is running and let it cool down for at least 10 minutes. Lift the medicine cup from the top of the humidifier and fill it halfway with the vaporizing medicine. Place the cup back on the unit and start the machine. The medicine will be distributed with the vapor as it is released. Make sure to clean the medicine cup after use with warm, soapy water.
