Shower Ideas for a Baby Boy Cake

Because the cake is the center of attention at a baby shower, you'll need something that steals the show. Whether you're making it yourself or having a bakery make it, you'll likely want plenty of pastel blue. Beyond that, nothing can be too cute or whimsical for a baby shower.

Create a cake that is shaped like a baby’s bootie or bake a homemade cake and top it with small baby shoe decorations from a party store. Choose baby blue and white icing colors for the baby boy’s cake. The cake can be decorated with white trim using white icing. If you are making the cake, bake a standard square or rectangular vanilla or chocolate cake. Place white icing on top of the cake and trim the cake’s sides and bottom with blue icing. Buy blue baby shoes to place on top of the cake or make some from fondant.

Make a homemade cake and decorate it to look like a baby boy’s birth certificate. Bake a square or rectangular cake, then use an icing pen to write the words on your cake or use ready-made letters for some of the words. Choose blue or red for the writing to make the words stand out. Write the name of the baby boy and the name of the hospital where the baby will be delivered or any other words you'd like on there. You can even write the name of your attending physician. Use white icing as the main color of your cake and decorate the edges of the cake with blue.

Make a cake and decorate it with blue baby bottles you buy from a craft store or party store. Or, make the bottles from fondant icing. Frost the cake with baby blue icing, write a message on the cake, and add two or three baby bottles to finish the cake.
