Because many wedding guests give monetary gifts that will fit into a card envelope, many brides will choose to have a central place to keep all of the cards safe. Wedding gift card boxes are generally placed on or near the gift table and are a great way to help protect the cards brought in by wedding guests. Not only do they make a nice protective holding area, they can double as a decoration piece as well. There are a lot of things you can do to make a wedding gift card box your own.

    Wrap or Spray the Boxes

  1. Whether there is one box or a few of them, wrap each box in a decorative wrapping paper or a satin fabric. Spraying the boxes with spray paint in a color that coordinates with the wedding theme or decor is also an easy alternative.
  2. Use Varying Sizes and Styles to Layer the Boxes

  3. If you can find at least two or three boxes in varying sizes, you can use a hot glue gun to glue them all together to make a tiered wedding cake or wedding gift style card holder. Place the largest box on the bottom and layer the boxes using the next smallest size, making sure the smallest size box is on top. To make it look like a tiered wedding cake, add ribbon around the bottom perimeter of each box and add embellishments to each cake layer and even a cake topper if you'd like. Just be sure to leave enough room for a split for guests to place their cards in.
  4. Treasure Chest Gift Card Holder

  5. Treasure chest gift card holders would be a nice touch for any kind of wedding that has a Cinderella, fairy tale or beach theme. You can buy them already made and ready to go, or you can purchase a more plain one and add your own decorations to make it more personal.
  6. Birdcage Gift Card Holder

  7. Plain, white birdcages can be found at a number of craft or specialty stores. Simply decorate them with some ribbon and they can be a very elegant addition to any wedding theme.
  8. Mailbox Gift Card Holder

  9. Papier mache mailboxes can be found at craft stores and are really nice to use as wedding gift card holders. Simply paint and decorate the box any way you'd like using embellishments that coordinate with your wedding theme.
  10. Add a Sign

  11. Place a sign near the wedding gift card box that reads something like, "Cards for the Mr. & Mrs." This way the wedding guests will know where to place their cards. You can embellish the sign itself as little or as much as you'd like to using things like glitter, markers, ribbon or paint.
