Hello, I'm Crystal Nassar with Tuscany Florist in Rancho Mirage, California and I'm going to show how to make a topiary for a mantle. I've already placed my topiary in a nice container that I think would fit in with the decor on the mantle and I lined it with plastic; put my topiary inside and put a little bit of green moss. You can use any, you know, any kind of moss. I've chosen the green moss and I think that looks good and I have a beautiful topiary here that's doing very well. I'm going to put a little bit of leaf shine on it to spruce it up a little; just to make it little more green. Okay. Try not to get that on your flowers; adds a little luster. Okay. Now you can make topiaries out of fresh flowers. Today I'm going to show just how to decorate a nice Ivy Topiary and we're going to add some beautiful hydrangeas. I have water tubes; these are pick water tubes. So they are going to go into the soil of the topiary. I'm going to cut the stem and just place this gorgeous hydrangea into the water tube filled with; it's already filled with water and just place it in there. And you've already got the beginning of a gorgeous mantle arrangement. So I've got another water tube and I put it. So I'm going to just keep inserting this gorgeous hydrangea. A topiary is a plant shaped. So this is a ball; you know; with; you know, the stick; but a topiary can be animals and different shapes. So this is a traditional topiary that you would see and I'm going to add a little different color here; roses for contrast and you can use all different colors. You could do, you could do some greenery in there; just add some beautiful orchids to the arrangement. You can add some different color hydrangea that really fills it up. And this is how you do a topiary for your mantle.
