"Hi I'm Jan. Today I'm going to show you how to make a baby washcloth. This particular washcloth is done out of a very soft chenille yarn then washed in the washing machine so it is sort of felted. It is indescribably soft so your baby is going to love it. To start with our baby washcloth, the first thing you do is cast on four stitches then just knit one row. The whole thing is done in garter stitch so it only involves knitting. It makes it a lot easier. On the next row you're going to knit two stitches, do a yarn over and knit to the end the last two stitches. Every row is done in the same way until the washcloth is as wide as you want. By doing the yarn overs near the edge it creates the cute little holes that are part of the design. So here we go every row is the same. Knit two stitches, do a yarn over and knit to the end of the row, turn it around, knit two stitches, do a yarn over, knit to the end of the row, turn it around, knit two stitches, yarn over, knit to the end of the row. The yarn overs that you do after the first two stitches are what's creating these little holes here, on purpose holes and also adding a stitch every row to make it bigger. When the washcloth is as wide as you want then we need to start going back and decreasing one stitch at each end and here's how you do that. You need to keep the hole the yarn over as part of the design so you're going to knit two stitches, do a yarn over then knit two stitches together once, knit two stitches together again so you've added one stitch with the yarn over, you've decreased one stitch with the first knit two together and decreased another stitch with the second knit two together then knit to the end of the row. Alright let's try that again, knit two stitches, yarn over, knit two together, knit two together. This is going to make the piece square off, take us back down to four stitches which then you can bind off. Knit two stitches, yarn over, knit two together, knit two together, work to the end of the row. See, you can see we're already starting to make a little square and that's how you make a great little baby washcloth.
