"I think when decorating a living room the first thing you have to consider is the functionality of the space. So it is really spending time with a client, knowing what they want to use the space for. There are formal living rooms, there are rooms that are used on a daily basis, there are recreational living rooms, so it really depends on what the intended use is going to be. A lot of times I my first questions is do you have kids, or are kids going to be in the living room a lot. Is it a young couple whom it is their first home, or is it a older couple whom will maybe use the living room an hour or two a week. So really figuring out what the space is going to be used for, and then secondly what I do for all rooms and all spaces is getting motivation. So coming or deriving a focal point. And that focal point can be the 56 inch flat screen TV on the wall, that can definitely be the focal point. If that is the intended space of the room, like we said it is a living room. It is usually the main room used, it's the most focal room in the house so you would want to spend the most time with it."
