"Hello, I'm Robert Nizza with the BTI Group in San Francisco. I'm here to talk with you about how to advertise a business for sale. There are a whole bunch of websites, now, that are specifically geared towards people who are selling their businesses on line. In California, there's one called BusBend, there's one called BusBySell, which is a national website. And, probably, five or ten others, that are maybe smaller. Typically, the way I work as a business broker, I typically advertise a business on eight different websites, in addition to my own company website. Typically, the advertisement will have very basic things, such as, what were the gross revenues of the business, how much adjusted net income is being generated, some basic things, perhaps the location, maybe not the location, if you want to keep the business con, confidential. Then there's a, something that we call a blurb. A blurb is a brief paragraph, maybe three or four sentences, or something like that. That, basically develops interest in people that are looking to buy the business. So, for example, profitable business in this certain town, a, in business for over thirty-five years, etc. It's typically your blind summary, so that we can keep the business, private. You can sale the business private, for like, your employees. The main thing about advertising, your business for sale, is that, you want to get the attention of a buyer. You want to separate yourself out from that pack of thousands of businesses, so write a blurb that is to the point, that tells the best parts of your business."
