"So now we have our clay weighed and wedged for our matching cereal bowls and here we are at the wheel. I'd just like to quickly go over the tools you will need for this; up here we have a sponge which we use in the throwing process, then we have this here which is a wire tool which we're going to use to cut the bowls off the bat. These are a couple of important tools in making measurements for these bowls because we're making a matching set so these tools here will allow us to make the measurements that we need to make. These are trimming tools; we will use these once it's bone dry and it's time to trim the pot and these are ribs, and these are important for shaping work and also for general trimming while it's wet on the wheel. We also have a bucket and a little sham or piece of leather that we use to smooth out the tops of a lot of our stuff you would use for breakfast; mugs, bowls; all that kind of stuff you need a smooth edge for food. So we also have these which are bats; small bats I use these because they are good for small production pieces and they slip right onto these pegs right here. O.k. so that's the equipment you're going to need; now we're ready to start working on the wheel, the first thing we're going to do is center the clay and we're going to do that next."
