"Hi my name is David Pearson, president of AVA Home Media Systems and I'm going to talk to you about what is a home security system. A home security system consists of a keypad where you would enter in your code to arm and disarm the system. A master control panel where all the wires are run to, it's the central brain of the system. Motion detectors, they pickup motion if someone was to break in and they walk across, the motion detector would pick them up. Smoke detectors obviously to pickup if there are somebody left a frying pan on the burner and it detected smoke. Gas detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, glass break detectors and door window contacts. You can put together any combination of the above to create your own personalized, custom home security system. Some people may have budget restraints, they may only be able to do a couple motion detectors and not be able to do all the doors and windows, you maybe only want to do the downstairs doors or windows, there's so many different combinations. Most security systems are monitored. That would mean that if the alarm was to go off, the central station would call the house first to ask for a pass code and if nobody was to answer and there was a break in, they would dispatch the local police. Security systems are also great for your own personal safety. Just for example in the middle of the night if there was a fire, the smoke detectors would go off and they would alert you through the siren to wake up and get out of the house safely. If you weren't home, it would call the fire department and the fire department would get here and usually they get here to put out the fire before any main danger, damage occurs. Also a monitored security system also gets you a little bit of a deduction on your homeowners insurance so be sure to check with them. Most security systems start off probably anywhere from 99 dollars all the way up to 1,000's of dollars. An effective security system can be as simple as a motion detector and a keypad and it's great when you're not at home. They also make pet friendly motion detectors now rated for small animals so you can let the dog and the cat roam free and still have the motion detectors on. Most of the new security systems are so smart that they will not allow you to arm the system with the motion detectors on if you're still in the house whether you arm in the stay or the away mode. That's a little about home security systems."
