Decorative Track Lighting

"Decorative track lighting is used in home remodeling or home design. Maybe your building a house. Maybe you want to use some decorative track lighting. Things to think about are... What are you going to be lighting? What areas are you going to be lighting? Is it going to be a living area? Is it going to be a dining area? Maybe you're just displaying some artwork. The things that you have available to you are you can do it as simple as just a long run of a track and some car cans that are attached to it and just aimed at the wall. There are also systems by which you have extension goose necks that have small little spot lights on them. You can aim them at various spots. Or you could even just have them spreading around willy nilly. There are so many options that all you can really do is come up with an idea in your head. Maybe you've seen something somewhere. You've been to a restaurant. You've been to somebody's home and you've seen a lighting system that you thought was cool. Great! Start with that as a starting point and take it from there. Take a look at your local home store. There's all sorts of... every lighting section has a bunch of different track lighting ideas, but the main thing you want to think about is are you going to use incandescent light? Are you going to use halogen light? Maybe you're going to use compact fluorescent. This is the latest thing that we've found is that now you can get fluorescent tubes in small decorative bulbs which is very energy efficient. It's good for the environment in the sense that it uses less electricity. Bear in mind that when you dispose of compact fluorescent bulbs, they do, if you break them, they do release mercury into the atmosphere. Just something to think about. They do last a lot longer, but when they burn out, don't just throw them in the garbage. You want to make sure that they're disposed of properly, but they can be used in track lighting now as well because now they have built in ballasts as well as the fluorescent tubes, so that's another option that's available to you in decorative track lighting."
