Hi. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to prepare emergency food rations. The first thing you want to remember is if you have three days worth of food for each person at least. Ideally, you want to have two to three weeks worth of food for each person. Make sure that you have lots of water. Water is going to be the most important thing even more so than food. You're going to need the calories from food but water is a must have. If people are thirsty, they can get desperate, you know. Make sure you have enough food and things like that for other members of the family. Your dogs and your cats; animals. They're going to need to survive also. They're victims also when they're natural disasters, ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes anything like that. Can goods, obviously, everybody knows they're nonperishable. Can goods are wonderful to have. Don't forget to pack the can opener or you're going to be banging it on the floor and the things never going to open. So remember to have a can opener with your can goods. Paper plates and paper plates are awesome because you're not going to have to wash them. They're disposable. It'll be a lot more sanitary. You'll be able to eat off them and then just throw them out. Utensils, plastic utensils are always good. People, you know, you can still be somewhat civilized even though you may be locked in the house for three weeks. You just got to take everything into consideration. Like I said, make sure you have tons and tons of water. Energy bars like protein bars, granola bars, anything with a lot of calories in it that's really got a long expiration, you know, the expiration date isn't for a couple of years, those are the things to have. I know Twinkies last for like ten years. So stock up on some Twinkies because those things are still going to be good. And it's pretty much that easy. Just remember everybody in the family. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you prepare emergency food rations.
