Hi I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to get ink out of silk clothing. Here we have a silk scarf. There is a blue ugly ink stain right there that you might want to get rid of. The first thing you want to try is put a wash cloth underneath the stain then there is a stain right there, grab a second wash cloth and get it wet and just blot the area with that water. You don't want to leave a puddle like I just did, just get it wet. Next spray the stain with aerosol hair spray. You want to use aerosol hair spray because it contains alcohol and the alcohol is what breaks up the ink. Just kind of let it sit and work its magic and try to break up the ink stain. You might want to blot it to see if it is working. If that doesn't work, well you of course don't want to leave the hair spray on there so once it starts to work you just want to blot it and try to dry the area a little bit and if that doesn't work like it didn't in this case, sometimes the ink stain may be old and you might not be able to get it out with just that process. You want to try making a stain remover for silk out of dish washing detergent, vinegar, and water. You want to add a little bit more water than you did dish washing detergent and vinegar but use about equal parts of the vinegar and dish washing liquid. Stir that up, let's move this out of the way so you can see. Stir it up really well. Use your wash rag to apply that to the stain. Let it sit for about 30 minutes but not long enough to dry and then after that you want to use rubbing alcohol on a wash cloth to remove that solution that you just made. I am Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you remove ink from silk clothing.
