How to dress preppy. For ladies, you're going to want to keep in mind that preppy just really means pressed and very neat, clean, so you're going to want to choose something out of the closet that's very new. You're going to want to make sure that it's pressed, if you choose slacks you're going to want to make sure it has that seam up the middle. Your skirts all need to be nice and pressed and fitted and proper length, no short short there. And as well, even if you wear a jean which Kelly has today, you're going to want to make sure that it's very nice jean, very chic, something very in. Always, always putting a heel with it, whether it's a boot or a shoe pump, you're going to want that heel look and it's going to all be very new looking. Adding the sweater over the shoulders I think that that really hits home as far as saying prep, besides the attitude. I think that that's really your best way to go. So make sure that when you go in the closet that you pull out some kind of sweater that you can throw over the shoulder or roll underneath on your, underneath your chin area there. Don't ever tie it on your waist, that would be kind of a loose look, that would not be prep at all. So make sure it's over the shoulders or wrapped up underneath. Now for ladies, really the next best thing that I can suggest for prep is to make sure that you get your diamonds and your pearls on. You're going to want to show that you're very particular about what you wear as far as jewelry and just how that looks. So pearls always still to this day say prep so anything with those pearls is definitely a good choice. As you can see we had lots of fun with them and tied them in a knot and whatnot. It doesn't really matter which way you wear it, get those pearls on there. We also have some lovely diamonds in here so whether you can afford them or not, get that nice bling or do again some pearls, some dangled pearls, hoops if nothing else. We've also added a nice watch. If it doesn't work, don't worry about it, this is just a prep look that you're trying to dress up as. Now also for ladies, the best thing you want to do for your hair of course styling it in a very nice way with rollers and such things that make it nice and smooth is always a great way to go. But I think as far as prep goes, I want to show you how to do a French twist. That will always take you right away to a very prep look, it's very good for anybody that wants to try and get across the prep look right away. You will want to keep in mind that a certain length you will not be able to, so for anybody that really has hair shorter than the ear, I don't think you're going to get much of a French twist out of anything. So in those cases you would want to make sure to very nicely style your hair making sure everything was really smooth and up to date and stylish for a very well to do prep look. You'll always want to make sure to add some makeup choices as well, foundation to make you a nice even tone, you should look very well maintained and taken care of. So you'll want to also make sure that your makeup and your eye area as well, done liner, shadows, mascara, of course blush and lipsticks are always all good to have. You have a wide variety of shades that you can use so keep that in mind. You will want to stay away from anything too vibrant just because that's dedicated for well other categories that aren't so prep. So leave those bright, bright shades to those areas and stick to a more nice well to do look. And of course magazines of past preps, one that comes to mind is Blair from the Facts of Life, she was always considered very much a prep. So she's always excellent to look at for choices as well. But let me show you quickly how to do a French twist, it's very simple. You're just going to want to pull all the hair back, don't worry too much about where your front lands, we'll go back and style that up. One thing about French twists is the higher up you pull it, the higher your piece up here is going to be. So keep that in mind. For prep you don't want to be too high, if you go too high you take it a little space age-y. So you're just going to want to start twisting one way or the other, just depending on whatever which way you want to go. Just remember you need to stay true to which way you do twists. So if you're twisting to the right, your pocket is going to open up, go ahead and let me have you turn to this side there, your pocket will open up and that's where you're going to put your French twist tail. So you're going to open up that pocket, stick that French twist right in there, come on back to the front. I prefer to use the large bobby pins, you'll notice that the end there has a longer edged tip, you're going to want to use that as your gripper and use that to lock in that French twist. And really there you are. Nice, easy French twists for a nice, fun prep look.
