"My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting design today. Fluorescent is also very energy efficient source and there are new legislation and new codes and new standards that are being written every day that require us to lower our energy consumption even in residential use. If you are in the State of California, you have to use fluorescent sources in your kitchen and bathrooms. We will probably see that in other states soon. The bathroom can be a very problematic or challenging space even though it may not seem like it is. One of the most important task that happened in a bathroom for females it is putting their makeup on and for males is to shave at the mirror. What you want to do is you want to try to get light coming from the sides of your face and from below as much as possible to fill in a lot of the shadows. If you have just down lighting coming down on your face, then you are going to get some very strong shadows beneath your eyes, beneath your chin which makes putting makeup on and shaving very difficult to do. So the best way to light a vanity in a bathroom is have a pair of wall sconces at face level left and right. "
