"Hi this is Cheryl with Expert Village. I’m going to show you a few tricks using a salad spinner. I love making salads and I love using a salad spinner. The salad spinner, what it does is it dries your salad lettuce. I’ve got these great salad greens inside the basket part of the salad spinner. The first thing you’re going to do is you’re going to rinse those, get those really wet, so I’m going to do that right now. So, I’ve got my lettuce, I’ve just washed it, I’m going to go ahead and put it right inside this part of the salad spinner. Now I’ve noticed when I use the salad spinner that even though most of the water comes out, there’s still a little bit of water left on my salad, which makes it a little bit tougher to dress the salad. So my trick is to take a dry paper towel and put that inside the salad spinner and what that does is it takes that residual moisture, so your salad is perfectly dry. Once the top is on your salad spinner, this is the fun part, you just spin away. This is definitely the fun part. And you just wait until that stops spinning. There’s a couple of different ones on the market. A couple I’ve seen have a string you can pull, those work great, but I find that this is the easiest one to work with, and what happens is like a centrifugal force, the water shoots out and dries the lettuce, then you’ve got to like wait until that slows down. So you’ve got all the extra water comes out here, you’ve got clean lettuce and my paper towel is actually damp and so my lettuce is so nice and dry, it’s perfect lettuce, ready to be tossed, it’s ready to have the most fabulous dressing you could imagine. And I actually just take this part and put it right in the fridge and then when I’m ready to make my salad, I can put this in a salad bowl and toss it. This is just a great little thing and another trick you can do is you can take this paper towel that was inside the spinner and lay it on top of the salad greens and then that will keep it really fresh in the fridge. We’ll just go ahead and put that in the fridge until we’re ready to have our salad. "
