"Hi I am Jeanette White for expert village of Piper's Quilts and Comforts located in Sugar House Salt Lake City, Utah. Today we are going to be talking about hand applique this is the English method and you are going to need for this a brown micron pen. There is a number here on the end and really it has no bearing on this you can use any number you want just as long as it is a brown micron. You are going to need brown quilting thread and a really heavy needle just as long as it is a darning needle or a lightweight chenille needle will work just fine and then you are going to need your pattern and a sharpie pen and you applique fabric and your patch and your background fabric. So to begin with you are going to take your pattern and you are going to put it right side up and then you are going to take your background fabric. This is my background fabric here and I am going to put it right side down on my pattern then I am going to take my micron pen and I am going to transfer that pattern, now if you cannot see through your fabric you can use a light table and thats a good investment we have one here at Piper's that is made of metal and its a very bright light and we're really happy with it. I am transferring this using my micron pen, and I don't want to soak the ink through to the right side of my background fabric. Just a really light fine line is what you want. So now I have transferred my design to the back of my background fabric. The next step is we'll start the applique process."
