"Now that we have a completed first row full of double crochets we're going to start our second row. Just get my piece facing back towards me. And of course we have our loop that ended from after we did our very last stack on our first row. So with this loop here on top, what you're going to do is you're going to turn your piece over facing the back and with this loop on the needle you're going to chain up 1 and chain up 2. Again, this is to set the tone for the height of our next row because this is a double crochet. This is very important to keep your sides in line. To keep a nice straight line as you continue to work on your piece. Now this is where we really begin our pattern. For our first column what we're going to do is we're going to wrap some yarn around our needle with our additional loop right there. This is how we do a standard double crochet. We're going to stick our needle in the front of it and then we're going to come up behind it to where this whole double crochet column is resting on our needle along with our original loop and the extra piece of yarn we wrapped around it. And now we're going to grab some yarn and pull it all the way behind that stack and pull it up to where we have three pieces of yarn, sorry, wrapped around our needle. Now we're going to grab another piece of yarn and pull it through the first two and we're going to grab another piece and pull through the second two. And we just did our first double crochet set on our second row. And you see that it's pulled this forward to help us create our basket weave effect. Now for the second one we're going to do the same thing but we're going to take our needle and do the front around the back of it to where the stack is sitting on top. Pull it up through the first two. Make sure you don't split your yarn like I just did. And through the second two. And you're going to do it one more time right there. Pull it through the first two, through the second two. And we have our first group of three and this is our up direction on our basket weave. And I'm going to show you how we're going to do across for our next set of three."
