Here's the little body of our sock monkey. Still not much here yet, but we're going to lay it over here. Now we go to the other sock. The first thing I want to cut out is the piece that's going to be the snout. What I'm going to do is I'm going to cut out this entire white area and the red. Kind of a one piece. I do want to leave a little border of maybe 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch just so I have something to fold under and sew. I'm going to kind of be careful with my scissors. This one is actually folded pretty well, so if you're careful and you just kind of go about a half inch out. I didn't really do the legs this way, but the snout is a little bit more forgiving. I'm just going to go ahead and cut through both layers of the sock here. I'm going to flip it over every 2 or 3 squeezes of the scissors just to make sure I'm still on track. Keep going. This is going to be a little piece that makes the snout. One thing about these socks that makes them a little bit different from other socks is that because they've gotten so popular for making sock monkey's out of them, there's actually a kind of a pouchyness. Kind of a poofyness pouchyness that the heel has both for the snout and for the butt. It is kind of like a balloon of fabric kind of. It's kind of another reason why these aren't really the best real socks for your feet. You can kind of tell that when you work with it that it's kind of almost like a little balloon of fabric there. That's just because people like monkeys with big snouts and big butts. It's kind of like men like their women. A couple of more cuts. A little bit harder to cut through the double layer of sock. There we go. Nicely done. This is the piece that will eventually become the monkey's snout. Just to kind of imagine it, butt, body, head, legs, snout will end up going ere somewhere. Set that aside and we have some more pieces we need to cut out of this sock.
