How to Store Fine China

"If you have some heirloom china pieces or maybe some pieces that you invested in yourself that are pretty pricey, you really want to make sure you take care of them. Now I have a couple sets of- well, half sets I should say, of some china here. Now, some tips for storing them, especially when you’re storing the plates is to make sure that in between each layer of plate, you have maybe a napkin or a coffee filter or something spongy that will prevent the edge of one plate from marring up the bottom of this one. This goes for the smaller plates as well. Also, when you’re storing your glasses, never store them on top of each other as this can chip and cause the edging here to flake off, and that’s never a good thing, especially if they were handed down to you from maybe your great-grandmother or something like that. Now, if you’re moving and you don’t have a place to store them like a china cabinet, I found these great storage things at my local or home organization store. Now if you don’t have one in your area, just hop online-I’m sure you’ll be able to find them there. Now these will just go in there like that- isn’t that great? It’ll prevent them from knocking into each other, and the box is padded so it’ll prevent the items from becoming damaged on the sides. In this set, you’ll also get one of these which is for the small plates of course, and they just kind of fit in here. And it’s an easy way to transport them- especially good if you’re moving. And there’s one for the large plates. Also, four or five other pieces come along in here and will easily hold a full set of china with all the dishes. You can also get a separate container for the flatware as well. So, make sure you take care of your china. Also, never put your china in the dishwasher. The heat will ruin the- especially if you have a gold finish like this one- will ruin the finish and it will cause it to flake off. Always wash it with a non-abrasive sponge. And if you’re really concerned about tipping them or damaging them, when you’re washing your dishes in the sink, keep a dish cloth or a rubber mat at the bottom of the sink that will prevent them from getting damaged in case it slips out of your hand or you drop them.
