How to Prep a Ceiling For Texture

"This is Kevin at Expert Village and we are going to texture a ceiling. I just removed this from a ceiling so that we can get a clear shot at the cracks up there. The texture would not have sealed over this hanging and regluing it was a bad idea. You can see what we have up here is cracking. We are going to fill in those cracks and give us the consistency that we need to smooth across our troubled areas here. All our surfaces need to be sound and clean. They need to be free of grease, soil and loose paint. We are going to make sure that we wash off anything that is water soluble such as wall paper paste or glue sizing. We are not going to intermix with any other paints or any other materials. However if we really wanted to tint this ceiling texture, we could use any color of universal color and we do that by using no more than 2 ounces per gallon. "
